Maki-e Pearls from Japan. These are South Sea Tahitian Pearls with 24K gold paint overlay and abalone shell inlay. This style is call Maki-e, a traditional Japanese decorating technique from the Edo period. Each pearl is decorated by hand using a combination of Urushi lacquer, gold paint and abalone shell. The pearls are 11.3mm X 9.2mm

Padparadscha Sapphires are very rare and unknown to most people. When they were discovered they became very desirable for their unique combination of pink and orange. The Sapphires are 3mm.
