Why Are South Sea Pearls So Special?

South Sea Pearls are considered the most luxurious and valuable pearls in the world. But why are they so special?

First, they are the largest cultured pearls usually sized between 9mm and 20mm. This alone makes them rare and valuable.

Second, they have a unique deep satin luster. Their thicker nacre developed during a longer growing period radiates this special glow.

Third, the colors are natural in whites, silvers and gold tones are so appealing.

Fourth, they are grown in the largest oyster the Pinctada maxima in very specific conditions and localities in the exceptionally clean waters of Australia, Indonesia, and the Philippines. It takes 2 to 4 years to grow a single pearl.

Fifth, the price reflects the size, nacre quality, rarity and long cultivation time. South Sea Pearls are the most expensive pearls on the market.
